Communications

The Communications team works to provide news and information to faculty, staff and students through a variety of university communication channels. We work closely with other University Communications departments to:

  • Support understanding of the university’s mission, initiatives, and aspirations
  • Foster employee engagement
  • Support student success and positive experiences
  • Promote a sense of unity while respecting differences
  • Ensure employees are equipped with the tools and information necessary to work effectively

Workplace News

OregonNews is the UO’s official online news site with a Workplace news section dedicated to keeping faculty and staff engaged and informed. Communications provides editorial oversight of the Workplace news section, providing news and information that faculty and staff need to be successful at their jobs, stay informed about initiatives and policies, and engage in university events and other happenings.

Communications partners with University of Oregon schools, colleges, units, and other affiliated organizations to generate information, produce stories, and identify resources of particular interest to UO faculty and staff.

Content appropriate for Workplace should appeal to and be accessible by all or almost all employee groups and have a direct connection to a UO-supported division, program, or affiliate. Generally speaking, content is sourced and published from units and programs funded by the UO and staffed by employees paid by the UO.
